Medicinal Herbs

Discover the herbs at the heart of Unani healing — their temperament, therapeutic uses, traditional preparations, and the wisdom for using them safely.

Every herb has a temperament

In Unani medicine each herb carries a mizaj (temperament) — a balance of hot/cold and moist/dry qualities. A remedy works by gently countering an imbalance, so a hot & dry condition is eased with a cold & moist herb, and so on.
